Do Kids Spend Too Much Time with Computer Games?

Shall we cut straight to the chase here and answer this question with a resounding yes? Compared with just a few decades ago, kids definitely spend far too much time on computer games.

Whether they are creating characters in games or blowing up worryingly realistic-looking zombies, kids spend far too much time on their computers. This is where responsible parenting needs to come in, for a change!

Parents are too inclined to leave their children to their own devices nowadays. Kids have become so spoilt, through the fault of modern-day parenting, that the guardian is often just pleased to enjoy some rare peace and quiet, even if this comes at the expense of leaving the children on computer games for too long.

This is where the parent needs to take an active role in determining the type of games their children play. Where the game simply involves mindless violence, you should be responsible here and withdraw it from the child if they are too young.

If a game has some form of educational advantage, this should always be encouraged, but still, a time limit needs to be applied to your child. Endless hours of playing on games will not help the child to socialise with their peers and this can never be a good thing.

Knowing that a balance needs to be maintained is the first criterion where computer games are concerned. No one is saying that you should be a complete killjoy here, but just make sure computer games will not prove to be a disadvantage to your child in the long-run.
